The Green Coalition of Ventura County is the new name for the organization formally known as Plan Green VC.

In addition to our new name, we also have an additional website to facilitate online discussion and interaction: http://greencoalitionventura.ning.com.  Please visit that site and sign up as a member if you would like to stay informed and receive information about upcoming events.

At our last meeting, we unanimously decided to adopt the Post Peak Oil 2050 plan as a foundational document to give our collaborative work structure.  We are united in the desire to implement change toward sustainability and dramatic reduction of CO2 emissions in our city and county.  We know we cannot bring about the wide-scale change that is needed alone.  We must work together, collaborating with all involved NGOs, government agencies, businesses, and funders.  This group is the opportunity to facilitate this collaboration.

PLEASE ATTEND THE NEXT MEETING:  You and your organization are urgently needed!
JULY 15, 6:30 pm
394 East Main Street, Suite D Ventura, California 93001

While there are multiple models and plans that have proven successful in other cities and counties, this 2050 Post Peak Oil Plan was commissioned by the Ventura City Council and can be adapted most easily by us to develop concrete goals and successful pathways to change, both at the policy and the civic levels.

Please contact Victoria Loorz, 805-200-8747 with any questions.

What’s Next?

Our first Ventura County Regional Gathering on Global Warming and Energy of August 19, 2008 was a real success. Dozens of organizations met and presented. Ideas were suggested, and it was agreed that we should meet again. Read More.

Second Get Together Planned
Mark your calendars. Part II of the strategy meeting will be Wednesday, October 1st.

Who is invited?

We welcome representatives of Ventura County organizations, businesses, City and County Reps and Staff, and active individuals – who want to contribute time, money, and/or other resources to fighting global warming and switching to renewable energy county-wide. The key factor of membership is active participation. In short – this is not a discussion group.

We hope each attendee will bring one other representative from somewhere else in the county so we can get a broader reach!

Wednesday, October 1st
6:30pm – 8:30 pm
City Corps Ventura
77 North California St., Ventura CA (across from City Hall)

Agenda:

Possible way to structure working together. (First Draft for Discussion)
More ideas of projects and actions you are interested in doing.
